Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is implementing the conservation village of carpet weaving coir in Tam Quan (Hoai Nhon district), in order to contribute to preserving, handed carpet weaving coir tradition, one of the cultural heritage Binh Dinh’s needs to be preserved, promoted.
Through field surveys of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, carpet weaving coir in Tam Quan was born from the early years of the twentieth century, continuing vocational “Next Coir” pre-existing in the process of history up village here through many periods of history. Coir products to this day still is preserved, but most of the family of production has shifted to Coir mats. Coir mats weaving in Tam Quan had flourishing period, goods produced are exported to foreign countries, and in recent years, the art of Tam Quan coconut fiber in the domestic market is quite strong consumption. Many hotels and restaurants in Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Binh Thuan … have to orders Tam Quan Nam Coir mats for flooring production. Coir mat weaving village and handicraft products from coir in Hoai Nhon district is one of three villages of group production crafts PPC development plan until 2020.
Coir carpet weaving has also created a lot of inspiration for the creative photographer works of art of high value. Coir carpet products deliver value not only use but also cultural values, is one of the products of traditional crafts typical of the Binh Dinh. So the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has chosen to perform the Project intangible culture 2015 “Conservation coir carpet weaving village of Tam Quan Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province.” Location implement the project in the communes of Tam Quan Nam, Tam Quan Bac (Hoai Nhon); My Loi communes (Phu My), and a number of other local coir carpet weaving tradition in Binh Dinh.
Preparatory phase of the project will be implemented from May – 6.2015, staff function rooms of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the staff of the local units of the same research material, protocol development department project implementation study.
